Enerlight installed over 6,400 LED fixtures and custom LED retrofit kits in the both the interior and the exterior of Thomson Federal Prison in Thomson, Illinois. The scope also included adding eight new 80-foot high-mast poles with lowering mechanisms to bring light levels within the fence to Federal light level standards.
The design and implementation of the project was unique since Enerlight had to follow strict federal guidelines, precise coordination, and detailed scheduling. The LED upgrades for the project totaled more than 2.7 million kWh in annual energy savings. Not only did the Prison realize major electrical savings considering the majority of the facility’s interior lights run 24/7, the facility also achieved substantially increased light levels and much longer life expectancy by upgrading from fluorescent to LED.
